I was first introduced to Sanj Rajput and his business Jelly Triangle while working as Director of Communications at YWCA Cambridge.
At the time, I was dealing with a website redesign that had gone terribly wrong. After a few minutes talking to Sanj about our circumstances, I knew he was the right fit to help us. From the very first meeting, Sanj was involved in a big picture way. He got to know our cause and, most importantly, the challenges we faced in our communications strategy. Talk about a difference! Visitors to the website commented that it was "beautiful and user-friendly" - this is entirely due to the changes Sanj integrated based on accessibility and responsive design. The ingenuity and dedication behind his work are outstanding- but the respect and patience he shows his clients is absolutely unmatched. That’s probably why he’s won awards for his exceptional customer service.
He didn’t tell me, but I learned in talking to others that Sanj and his wife, Bhupi, are well-respected in the community and involved in supporting a number of local causes. In many ways, the Rajputs use their artistic skills and marketing know-how to help build stronger communities. It was no surprise, then, when Sanj agreed to walk for YWCA Cambridge’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. Though it was way out of his comfort zone, Sanj stepped up for every public event: Boston Pizza server nights, Heart and Stroke’s Big Bike fundraiser, Cambridge Centre Mall events… all in red heels (and yes, his calves reaped the rewards). Sanj then joined the WAM organizing committee and redesigned Walk a Mile’s website: coincidentally, WAM donations increased that year by 78%. In addition, WAM received the Cambridge and North Dumfries award for Best PR and Marketing Campaign in 2013 and 2014!
It seemed inevitable when this serial entrepreneur decided to start offering a host of new marketing services and open a new business, The Marketing Multi-tool. The offer to leave the non-profit sector and become a part of his small team of artists and marketing ninjas was one I couldn’t keep turning down. And so here I am, working alongside this dynamic Rajput duo. I get to work with a range of clients that do things like offer bidding software to millwrights, and make Crap From Goats. It’s endlessly inspiring and entertaining. And really, I haven’t lost that connection to the community. MMT provides services for a number of not-for-profits in Waterloo Region, and everyone on the team has their own causes they support. Though I’m still learning the lingo around here, including what the heck a directory submission is, one thing is for sure: I’m in a place that values big vision, risk-taking, and laughter… and that’s never a bad way to spend a work day.
