There is nothing worse than meeting a prospective client and the first thing they say is "I didn't recognise you, you look very different from your on-line photo".
Once a year, invest and update your headshots. Why, you ask? Here are a few reasons why having a headshot for your small business is important.
What to do next:
1Book an appointment with a professional photographer. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are good places to get recommendations from colleagues, family and friends. November/December is a great time, as photographers have seasonal specials for small scale shots.
2Create an annual appointment in your calendar to book the photographer. We can easily forget tasks when we don't automate them, but a calendar appointment is a great way to hold yourself accountable.
3As we build our on-line profiles for all our different accounts, its very easy to loose track what we need to update and when. Keeping an on-line list will keep you on track.
4It doesn't necessarily have to be a professional headshot. Just make sure wherever it came form, its high quality.
Everytime you open a new account that requires a profile shot, write it down. You'll be surprised how many accounts you have. Here is a small list to start with:
- Website - about us page
- Google+
- Newsletter
- Blogs
- Professional Sites
- Member Sites
